In winter, the wind is cold and the temperature drops sharply. Many people's skin seems to have encountered a "small crisis". Many people will find that their skin has become extremely sensitive. Not only is it red, but it is also often dry and flaky, which makes people distressed.


What exactly is sensitive skin? According to the official definition, sensitive skin (SS) refers to a high-reaction state of the skin under physiological or pathological conditions. This condition mainly occurs on the face. When the skin is stimulated by physical, chemical, mental and other factors, subjective symptoms such as burning, stinging, itching and tightness are prone to occur, and objective signs such as erythema, scaling and capillary dilation may also occur. This sensitive state is often more obvious after cleansing, sun exposure or makeup. Although sensitive skin does not currently belong to a specific skin disease, it has caused a lot of trouble for people.


The key to treating sensitive skin is to improve the tolerance of the skin. During the treatment process, reasonable home skin care is the first step. Reasonable skin care should follow the principles of gentle cleansing, soothing and moisturizing, and strict sun protection. However, it is difficult to quickly improve sensitive symptoms by home skin care alone. At this time, photoelectric therapy can be used as an effective auxiliary means. Here are two commonly used devices for sensitive skin treatment and their applications.


Intense Pulsed Light


Due to its wide spectrum characteristics, intense pulsed light has multiple functions such as redness reduction, desensitization, and skin quality improvement. In the treatment of sensitive skin, whether in the acute stage or the stable stage, intense pulsed light can play a significant improvement role.


Acute sensitive stage: This stage mainly uses the desensitization and soothing effects of intense pulsed light. Taking the phototherapy miracle egg device as an example, a 590nm filter can be selected, set to three-pulse mode, the pulse width is controlled at 6-8ms, the pulse delay is 50ms, and the energy density is set to 10-12J/cm².


Sensitive skin stable stage: This period mainly relies on the function of intense pulsed light to improve skin quality and remove redness. For example, first use the 640nm filter, use the triple-pulse mode, pulse width 6-8ms, pulse delay 50ms, and energy density 15J/cm²; then use the vascular filter, switch to the double-pulse mode, pulse width 4/6ms, pulse delay 50ms, and energy density 13-15J/cm²; finally, use the 590nm filter again, triple-pulse mode, pulse width 6-8ms, pulse delay 50ms, and energy density 12J/cm².



Long-pulse 1064nm laser


1064nm laser is a common treatment method, and everyone is familiar with devices such as picosecond and ultra-picosecond. Although the wavelength of ultra-picosecond and Q-switched lasers is also 1064nm, their pulse width (that is, the time the laser acts on the skin) is extremely short, ranging from hundreds of picoseconds to a few nanoseconds, which will instantly gather high energy and produce a blasting effect on the target tissue. The pulse width of the long pulse 1064nm laser is between tens of milliseconds and several seconds, just like boiling a frog in warm water, slowly heating the skin tissue without causing obvious explosion and thermal damage.


The long pulse 1064nm laser has two significant characteristics:

Deep penetration depth: It can penetrate up to 3mm in the skin tissue, and can penetrate deep into the dermis, fat layer and SMAS fascia layer.


Adjustable pulse width: Under normal circumstances, the thermal relaxation time of the epidermis is 25-100ms, and it takes about 100ms for heat to diffuse from the epidermis to the dermis. Therefore, when there is no need to destroy a specific target, adjusting the laser pulse width to more than 100ms can heat the tissue evenly and gently. This uniform heating can produce a good light modulation effect, regulate skin immunity, reduce inflammatory damage, soothe sensitive nerves, and indirectly repair the skin barrier, and relieve the discomfort symptoms of sensitive skin such as redness, burning, and tingling.


Take UP Bang Bomb Light as an example, in its expert mode, the parameter settings are: spot size is 3mm, energy density is 120-170 J/cm², and pulse duration is 5-40 ms. (This parameter refers to the clinical literature of long pulse laser)
