With the changes in modern lifestyles and the influence of environmental factors, sensitive skin problems are becoming increasingly common and have become a skin problem that more and more consumers are concerned about. Sensitive skin not only affects appearance and comfort, but may also cause a series of skin problems, such as redness, burning, and tightness. For medical institutions and skin care brands, how to effectively help patients relieve these symptoms and provide them with professional and personalized treatment plans has become a key challenge in the industry.
Among the many treatment methods, photoelectric therapy has gradually become a popular choice for solving sensitive skin problems due to its advantages of precision, non-invasiveness and short recovery period. Especially in the market, with the continuous improvement of equipment technology, the application scope and effect of photoelectric therapy have been continuously expanded, becoming an important treatment method in the medical beauty industry. This article will deeply analyze the application of photoelectric therapy in improving sensitive skin, explore its treatment effect, applicable principles and how to carry out treatment scientifically and effectively.
Sensitive skin is not a skin disease, but a state of decreased skin tolerance when facing changes in the external environment or using care products. It often manifests as discomfort, such as tingling, burning, itching, etc., or accompanied by symptoms such as capillary dilation and erythema. Its causes involve impaired skin barrier function, inflammatory response, and abnormal response of the nervous system. In addition, imbalance of skin microbiota and overgrowth of harmful bacteria are also important factors in the aggravation of sensitive skin. In view of these complex mechanisms, how to effectively intervene through photoelectric therapy has become a hot topic in the industry.
According to the "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sensitive Skin in China (2024 Edition)", the treatment of sensitive skin focuses on repairing the skin barrier and enhancing skin tolerance. Common treatment methods include basic skin care such as moderate cleansing, soothing moisturizing, and strict sun protection. At the same time, low-energy laser/light therapy (such as intense pulsed light, red light, yellow light, etc.) is also recommended to relieve sensitive symptoms.
For sensitive skin, the application of phototherapy has achieved remarkable clinical results. For example, studies have shown that intense pulsed light (IPL) combined with red and yellow light treatment can effectively improve skin sensitivity symptoms. The research group used an intense pulsed light therapy device and a soothing therapy device, respectively, and achieved significant improvement through the combined treatment of intense pulsed light and red and yellow light, especially in relieving facial redness, erythema and skin sensitivity index. Showing better results.
A study selected 80 patients with sensitive skin and randomly divided them into a control group and an observation group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with intense pulsed light, and the observation group was treated with intense pulsed light combined with red and yellow light. The intense pulsed light therapy device adjusted the wavelength, pulse width and pulse delay of the intense pulsed light handpiece: the pulse wavelength range was set at 590-1200nm, 615-1200nm, 640-1200 nm, three pulses, pulse width 3.5-4.5ms, pulse delay 35-45ms, and energy density 12-16J/cm². After the intense pulsed light ended, the observation group assisted the patients with ice pack cold compress for 15 minutes, followed by red and yellow light treatment, with a red light wavelength of 633nm and a power density of 50m W/cm²; a yellow light wavelength of 590 nm and a power density of 25mW/cm². The irradiation time was 10 minutes, and the light source was kept 20 cm away from the face throughout the process. Intense pulsed light therapy was performed once every month, with a treatment duration of 20 minutes, and the entire course of treatment was 3 consecutive treatments; red-yellow light therapy was performed once every 2 weeks, and the total course of treatment was the same as that of intense pulsed light.
The results of the study showed that both IPL alone and IPL combined with red and yellow light were effective in treating sensitive skin. However, the use of IPL combined with red and yellow light treatment can reduce the skin sensitivity index for patients with facial sensitive skin more than the use of IPL alone.
Repairing the skin barrier is the key to improving sensitive skin. Through photothermal and photochemical effects, intense pulsed light can stimulate the regeneration of skin collagen and elastic fibers, enhance skin elasticity and fullness, and reduce skin depression index; at the same time, through the principle of photocoagulation, intense pulsed light decomposes pigment clusters and pigment cells, promotes the expansion of capillaries and the absorption of hemoglobin, effectively improves facial redness, and thus reduces the area and parameters of skin erythema. Red and yellow light irradiates the facial skin with narrow-spectrum light sources of different wavelengths, which can improve cell structure, enhance cell antibacterial ability, relieve facial skin inflammation, and promote the repair of facial skin barrier function, thereby improving sensitive skin.
For the treatment of sensitive skin, the application of photoelectric therapy should follow the following principles:
① Repair the skin barrier: This is the core goal of treatment. Intense pulsed light can stimulate the regeneration of skin collagen through photothermal effect, and decompose pigment clusters through photocoagulation to relieve erythema and redness.
②Low energy, personalized treatment: Choose the appropriate wavelength and treatment parameters to avoid over-stimulating the skin. Use low energy, high pulse width mode during treatment, and gradually increase the energy density to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
③Postoperative care: The skin needs to be fully repaired and moisturized after treatment. You can use soothing masks and moisturizers to reduce skin inflammation and improve the efficacy.
In specific operations, the use of intense pulsed light should be based on low energy and long pulse width. The initial energy density is 10J/cm², and the increase should not exceed 2J/cm² each time. The treatment cycle is generally once every 3 weeks, and the total course of treatment is 5 times. Red light and yellow light treatment can be used in combination, with a treatment intensity of no more than 50mW/cm², once a week, and the course of treatment lasts 5 times.
The treatment of sensitive skin should not only focus on the selection of treatment technology, but also consider postoperative care and individual differences. When choosing a photoelectric treatment plan, it is recommended to adjust the treatment parameters based on the specific state and reaction of the skin to ensure efficacy and safety. For patients, comprehensive treatment and personalized care are the key to improving treatment effects.
① Post-skin care: such as using a soothing mask to reduce postoperative inflammatory reactions.
②Special attention for photosensitivity patients: For photosensitivity patients, attention should be paid to monitoring reactions during treatment. When symptoms such as redness and swelling occur, phototherapy should be discontinued, and oral anti-photosensitivity drugs should be considered.
Through the rational application of phototherapy, the improvement of sensitive skin can not only effectively relieve discomfort symptoms, but also restore the health of the skin to a large extent, bringing a more comfortable care experience for patients with sensitive skin.
