After using picosecond laser to treat different types of pigmentation (non-chloasma), whether scabs form and the length of the recovery period vary depending on individual differences and treatment methods, as follows:

Epidermal spots (such as freckles and sun spots): Usually one treatment can achieve a more obvious improvement effect.

Dermal spots (such as brown-blue nevus and nevus of Ota): 3 to 6 treatments are required to achieve significant results. Although the treatment with scabs is more effective, it is usually recommended to perform the next treatment after 3 to 6 months due to the longer recovery period; while the mild treatment without scabs has a shorter recovery period and can be performed after 1 to 2 months.

Scabbing: Some patients may develop scabs after treatment, and the scabs usually fall off naturally in about 7 days. After shedding, the erythema generally takes 2 to 6 weeks to return to normal. During this period, patients are prone to pigmentation. If pigmentation occurs, it usually takes 3 to 6 months to disappear naturally, and some patients may need up to 12 months.

No scab: When using the gentle treatment mode, scabs usually do not form. The color of the spots may deepen after treatment. Generally, after 1 to 2 weeks, there may be slight desquamation locally, and then return to normal, or directly return to normal.
