Stretch marks, also known as growth marks, obesity marks, stretch marks or skin expansion marks, are called stretch marks if they appear during pregnancy. They are caused by the rupture of the dermis and the shrinkage of the epidermis when the skin is overstretched, thus forming lines and sagging skin. These lines usually appear on the abdomen, breasts and thighs. For some patients, more obvious skin lesions may affect their appearance and bring psychological burden.

What are the types of stretch marks?
When this type of skin lines appears in the early stage, the blood vessels in the lesions proliferate and appear red or purple, so they are also called "red lines" or "purple lines".

In the late stage, blood vessels degenerate, so they appear silvery white, also known as "white lines".

BECAUSE
Why do stretch marks appear?
The incidence of stretch marks in pregnant women can reach 50%-90%. Its severity is closely related to genetic factors, fetal size, weight gain during pregnancy and the age of the pregnant woman.
The rapid growth of height and weight during adolescence, coupled with the high level of glucocorticoids in the body, can easily lead to the formation of lines after skin stretching, i.e., stretch marks.
When adults gain weight, whether it is fat accumulation or muscle growth, it may increase skin tension and form obesity lines.
Long-term use of glucocorticoids (whether oral or topical) can weaken skin elasticity and lead to the appearance of stretch marks.
Certain genes or endocrine diseases, such as Marfan syndrome, Cushing syndrome, adrenal disease or skin hyperelasticity, may also cause stretch marks.
TREATMENT PLAN
Can stretch marks be treated with photoelectric therapy?
The answer is yes!
Treatment of early red lines: First, find and eliminate the cause of increased skin tension to reduce further aggravation of skin lesions.
For narrower red lines, the red color will fade away on its own after half a year to a year, and the skin lesions are usually not obvious after turning into silvery-white stripes, so no treatment is required. If the lesions are itchy, moisturizing products can be used to relieve them.
For wider red lines, if there are no contraindications to photoelectric treatment (such as pregnancy and lactation), intense pulsed light therapy, long pulse laser therapy, picosecond laser therapy, etc. can be used for vascular treatment to improve them.
IPL stimulates the regeneration of collagen and elastic fibers in the skin through photothermal effects, improving the elasticity and texture of the skin. Its multi-color spectrum can act on multiple pigments and blood vessels in the skin at the same time, promoting the overall repair and regeneration of the skin. IPL treatment usually needs to be performed multiple times, with an interval of 3-4 weeks between each treatment. After treatment, you need to pay attention to sun protection and moisturizing.
2、Long pulse laser therapy device
Long pulse laser (such as 1064nm Nd:YAG laser) can stimulate the proliferation of collagen and elastic fibers in the deep layer of the skin through thermal effects, improving skin sagging and depression. Its treatment process is relatively mild and is suitable for patients with mild skin sagging. Slight redness, swelling and heat may occur after treatment, but they generally subside within a few hours.
Picosecond laser can stimulate fibroblasts in the skin through photomechanical effect and photothermal effect, promote the synthesis of collagen and elastic fibers, and thus improve the appearance of white lines. Its ultra-short pulse and high energy characteristics enable it to act more effectively on the deep tissue of the skin while reducing thermal damage to the surrounding normal tissue. Picosecond laser treatment usually needs to be performed multiple times, with an interval of 1-2 months between each treatment. After treatment, you need to pay attention to skin care and avoid sun exposure.
For some patients with severe skin sagging, it is recommended to surgically remove excess skin first, and then perform photoelectric treatment to improve lines.
